We are only twelve months away from the greatest National Meet of all time. Planning is still proceeding well and is on track. Our Headquarters are great with a very pleasant outlook over the city and the food will be well priced. There will be plenty of activities for everyone.
TRAVEL TO AND FROM TASMANIA
Travel to and from Tasmania will be via the Spirit of Tasmania ferry from Melbourne to Devonport on Sunday 14th March 2010 with our A Models. This is a group booking which gives us flexibility and discounts and allows us to return at our leisure (subject to any Spirit of Tasmania conditions). Arrival in Devonport is early Monday morning where, after disembarking and clearing Quarantine we will all have breakfast at a nearby location. Then it’s onto Launceston (98km) at your own pace, with time to visit sights of interest along the way.
For those of us who are “non sailors”, we are investigating flights to Tasmania. In order to get your A to Tasmania we will arrange for it to be accompanied on board “Spirit” and delivered to you in Devonport. Obviously this offer will be limited by the number of extra drivers we have available who are travelling on the Spirit of Tasmania. If you wish to trailer your A to Melbourne, we are planning to have parking available so that you can leave your trailer and drive your A on board ”Spirit”. Our aim is to get you and your A to Tasmania and back as smoothly as possible.
Please wait for our advice about when and how to make your Spirit of Tasmania bookings.
HEADQUARTERS
Our proposed Headquarters for the week is a newly completed building on the banks of the North Esk River, close to Launceston city. It is a large building with good facilities and we expect to have exclusive use of it for the week with all activities based there. Interesting menus have been planned for each night at moderate cost. Children’s prices have also been arranged. Meal and merchandise forms will be available towards the end of the year.
NATIONAL MEET PROGRAMME
A relaxing week has been planned with the opportunity to visit Launceston’s many attractions. There will also be the chance to use the A’s and we are planning technical seminars, craft sessions and children’s activities.
TOURING TASMANIA AFTER THE NATIONAL MEET
ALL National Meet entrants are encouraged to tour Tasmania after the National Meet. We will not be organising a specific tour and suggest that you arrange this as part of your “after the National Meet” activities. Tasmania is a great place to visit and is suitable for touring in your A. Launceston Travel Centre can help with your after National Meet tour planning and accommodation bookings. We can arrange limited storage facilities in Tasmania for those who want this.
